Why Waterloo?

Waterloo is a place for students who want to get more out of their education—and out of life.

Too often the stress and complexity of our modern educational system actually get in the way of learning and living a healthy teenage life. That’s why we set out to create a new kind of school based on ground-breaking research—and a little common sense.

It starts with seeing each student as unique, with particular God-given gifts meant to be used for individual growth and for the world.

Project-based Learning

Waterloo students learn by doing, and each course culminates in student-designed projects that demonstrate real learning.

Optimized Schedule

By focusing on fewer classes at a time each trimester, students have a chance to go deeper and take advantage of mentorship and extracurricular activities.

Personal Relationships

The Waterloo learning experience is grounded in close, meaningful relationships with mentors, peers, and our neighbors in Austin.

We believe students deserve an education where they are known, loved, understood, challenged, and equipped for their place in the real world.

Roll out the red carpet! It’s showtime and all the Waterloo students are ready to show off the hard work they have done in their projects.  We are so grateful that we were able to have our first in-person student showcase since the Winter term of 2019-2020!  Follow each class’s link below you will find collections of students’ work.

Check out our Spring Showcase!
